This program is best suited for ages 5-12, but is open to all ages.

Wildlife in Winter - January 16
How do animals survive in the winter? Learn the ways animals have adapted to survive the challenges of this harsh season. We’ll learn about the clues animals leave behind and go on a winter walk to discover what sticks around for winter at Tyler.

Incredible Invertebrates – March 20
Search the Arboretum to discover the amazing adaptations and diversity in the insect world. Learn about life cycles, beneficial and harmful insects, and the jobs that insects perform in their environment.

Birds of a Feather – April 3
The ecosystems at Tyler Arboretum are an incredible habitat for birds. Come discover the wonderful variety of birds we have on-site. Learn how to use a field guide and binoculars to identify our local birds and the different habitats they call home.

Aquatic Investigations – May 15
During this exploration of the water cycle, students will tour Tyler’s watershed, observe water’s role in nature, and discover some of the smallest animals who depend on clean water.

Afterschool Adventures Club
Connect with friends and nature after school! This series is designed to let kids be kids after a long day in the classroom. Children will explore the natural world around them, play outside, and discover the many critters that make nature so interesting. This program is for children in grades 1 & 2.
Wednesdays, 4:00-5:00 pm (March – May & Sept – Nov)

Homeschool Group Field Trips
Join us for a nature adventure! Engage and inspire curious minds with hands-on exploration at Tyler Arboretum. Connect with nature through standards-based programs. Learn about plants, wildlife, and ecology through guided studies in 650 acres of woodland, meadow, and aquatic habitats. Tyler Arboretum offers everything you need to turn your students into champions of the natural world. Learning happens rain or shine with classroom space in our historic barn.
All of our field trip programs are available for home school groups. Our programs provide opportunities to integrate hands-on ecology, environmental science and plant science into your home school curriculum. For the best learning experience at Tyler, classes with mixed ages will be divided into age groups. Admission to the Arboretum is included; stay for just the program or for the entire day!
