Photography & Filming

We encourage visitors to take photographs of Tyler’s grounds, gardens, and landscapes. Our guided Photo Walks, which are free with admission, provide wonderful opportunities to join fellow photography enthusiasts and to discover image opportunities that are not readily apparent (please check the Calendar  for Photo Walk schedule).

We ask that all photographers treat their fellow visitors and our grounds and gardens with respect.

The personal use of drones on or over Tyler’s property requires prior agreement from Tyler’s Executive Director.

We may allow drone flights on or over Tyler Arboretum for the creation of in-house promotional material or for commercial filming (still images and video footage). These flights will be limited in duration and geographic reach, and will be restricted to before or after regular opening hours and will be kept away from adjoining property.

Such flights for filming or photography will be publicized in advance (times, locations, and flight paths in the days leading up to and on the day of the flight/flights) via social media and at the Visitor Center.

Your admission to Tyler and participation in our classes, events, and programs includes your implied consent to be photographed, filmed, or videotaped for educational or promotional purposes.

If you prefer not to be photographed or filmed, please make you wishes known to the staff member or volunteer taking photographs.

We welcome individuals, families, senior class portraits and other photography or portraiture intended for personal use only (i.e., not for commercial use). We simply ask that visitors wishing to use Tyler as a backdrop for personal photographs pay the regular Arboretum admission for all individuals involved, including photographers and assistants.

If you have a signed contract to have your wedding at Tyler via Jeffrey A. Miller Catering (JAM), additional access to the Arboretum for pre-wedding and engagement photographs can be scheduled through your JAM wedding planner at no additional fee. To ensure your special time is not shared by other couples, all wedding photography is scheduled through our catering partner, Jeffrey A. Miller Catering. Photo sessions may be up to one hour in length and are limited to outdoor spaces only. For details, fees, or to schedule your session, please contact:

We do not charge a fee for photographers taking photographs for use to promote Tyler Arboretum in travel publications. We do though ask that promotional photographers contact us in advance of their visit by reaching out to us at: 610-566-9134

With its wealth of locations and backdrops, Tyler is the ideal location for commercial photography and filming. We do not close or restrict any area to other guests during photography, filming, or video sessions. We ask that all photography and film crews follow our garden etiquette guidelines, and that they remain respectful of other visitors by not blocking pathways or visitor access to any area of the Arboretum with equipment or cables.

Any use, reuse, or reproduction by any means of any image or footage of Tyler, its grounds, visitors, staff, volunteers, or donors for commercial use (including catalog and fashion shoots, broadcast media commercials, professional videos, etc.,) must be approved in advance and prior to publication by the Executive Director.

We review requests for commercial filming and photography on a case-by-case basis. Because work in the Arboretum by the gardening staff is a year-round necessity and because we host multiple events throughout the year, dates available for commercial shooting may be limited. We reserve the right to deny any commercial shoot requests. We charge a filming and location fee for all commercial filming and photography.
