If you’d like to become a member on the day of your visit, simply show your receipt to one of our Visitor Center staff before you leave and we’ll apply the cost of your admission toward a membership on site. This offer applies to memberships bought on the day of your visit. You can also sign up for membership here.

Yes we do. Guided tours are available seasonally for schools, for scouts and guides, and for community groups. We also offer public programs for children, families, and adults throughout the year. Topics range from gardening, nature, botanical arts, and health and wellness. Check out our calendar for more information.

Yes! For weddings and bridal showers we have an exclusive contract with Jeffrey A. Miller Catering. Please contact Angela DiLella at angelad@jeffreymillercatering.com for details.

If you are able, return to the Visitor Center for basic first aid supplies. If you are hurt and need assistance, please call (610) 566-9134 and a staff member will help you. If it is an emergency, please dial 911.

Are your grounds ADA-accessible?2019-07-02T12:23:34-04:00

Tyler is a naturalistic landscape and access to plants and garden displays is often on turf or mulched surfaces. Paved surfaces include the path from the Visitor Center to the Barn, historic buildings, and Pond, and the ADA-compliant Scenic Loop and paths in the Wister Rhododendron Garden. Thoreau’s Cabin, Fort Tyler and the Tulip Tree House are ADA-accessible.

Yes. Our water fountain is located on the path from the Visitor Center, in front of the Storybook Houses. To cut down on the waste of single use plastic bottles, please feel free to refill your drink containers at the water fountain.

Public restrooms are located inside the Barn, under the ramp. There are additional restrooms on the top floor of the Barn, and in the Edible Garden classroom (the red tiled building) at the bottom of the hill next to the Pond.

Tyler Arboretum does not have dining facilities, but we do sell drinks and snacks in the Visitor Center. Guests are always welcome to bring food and drinks and enjoy our picnic areas. Sorry, no outside alcohol is allowed. We are also happy to recommend affordable options at the Country Deli on Rte 352 and Chick Fil-A of Lima on Rte 1. There are also several food options in the nearby town of Media.

Membership FAQs

Simply present your Tyler membership card at a participating garden to receive free general admission or other benefits.

Before making a special journey we strongly recommend that you call the garden you wish to visit to check on any changes or updates to their admissions policy. Each garden has its own unique admissions policy and some gardens have certain exclusions for days on which they hold special events. Our members also receive free general admission to the Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation at Ridley Creek State Park.

Please note: Morris Arboretum ended its reciprocal agreement with Tyler Arboretum on December 31, 2017. This means that Tyler members no longer receive free admission at Morris, and Morris members no longer receive free admission at Tyler. We regret the end of this popular partnership but know you’ll continue to enjoy your many other Tyler membership benefits. Also, going forward Tyler members receive $2 off adult general admission at Winterthur as part of the Brandywine Explore & Save program.

Here is the complete list of gardens with which Tyler has agreements on admission.

If you are a member at our Steward level or above, simply present your Tyler membership card at a participating museum to receive free general admission or other benefits. Participating museums can be found here and here. We recommend that you call before you visit. Each museum has its own unique admissions policy and some museums have certain exclusions for special events, etc.

Members receive 20% off one order at White Flower Farm. When you receive your membership cards in the mail, you will also receive the postcard needed to redeem this discount.

You may also present your Tyler membership card at Longwood Gardens, Brandywine Zoo, and other regional attractions to save $2 off adult general admission. Here is the complete list of attractions. One discount per cardholder per visit. Blackout dates apply.

If your membership is at Family level or Family Plus, yes you can. Family level members receive free general admission for up to 4 grandchildren at a time. Family Plus level members and above receive free general admission for up to 6 grandchildren at a time.

If you are a member at our Family Plus level or above, one caregiver (accompanied by your children) may use your membership card for free general admission when you are not present.

Memberships are non-transferable and can only be used by the named cardholders.

However, if you are a member at our Family Plus level or above, one caregiver or nanny (accompanied by your children) may use your membership card for free general admission when you are not present.

Your guest passes are mailed with your membership cards when you join or when you renew your membership. If you have not received them, please call 610-566-9134, ext. 209, Monday-Friday, 9am-5 pm or send an email to: development@tylerarboretum.org.

As long as your membership is at Family level membership or above, you will receive discounts on most and programs, for members-only events, for eco-birthday parties, and for registrations for Tyler’s annual summer camps. These discounts, whee they apply, are for fees associated with children/grandchildren of all ages, even those under age 3. Discounts are only valid for your children/grandchildren. Discounts cannot be applied to registrations for other family members or for the children of friends.

Then click the link to register.

Once you are on the registration page you must either register for an online account or sign in to the one you’ve already created. The account registration box is in the upper right hand corner on the registration page (highlighted in pink below).

If you are registering for the first time, be sure to use the same contact information you used to sign up for your membership. This is important so your online account can automatically link to your membership.

After you’re signed in, add the event to your shopping cart. This is where the discount will be applied. Your discount will only show up once you have either created or logged in to your account. Your membership of Tyler is valid for one full year from your month of purchase. If you are renewing your membership, 12 months will be added to your current expiration date.

Typically, your cough to receive your membership card in the mail within two weeks of joining. If you’d like to visit before you receive your membership card, simply give your name at the Visitor Center and we can see in our system that you are an active member.

Yes you can! A Tyler membership is an ideal gift and you can buy online here. When you choose the membership level that you would like to give, be sure to check the box that says “This membership is a gift.” You can also buy a gift membership at the Visitor Center during open hours or via phone at 610-566-9134, ext. 209, Monday-Friday, 9am- 5pm.

Yes it is! To upgrade your membership and enjoy enhanced benefits for the remainder of your membership year, simply call 610-566-9134, ext. 209.

All we ask is that you pay the difference between the price of your current level membership and your new level. Your membership expiration date will stay the same.

Yes, the cost of membership is tax-deductible, minus the value of guest passes received ($15 each).
