Fairy Festival – Help us host this multi-generational family event celebrating nature awareness and the wonders of imagination.

Communication Department Opportunities
Photographers – Help us expand our image library. We need high quality photos of landscapes, plant specimens, special events, educational and other programs.
When: Times determined by event dates and/or by mutual arrangement
Graphic Designer – Are you comfortable working with Photoshop, Pagemaker, Publisher or other graphic design and/or layout programs? Contact Melissa Hamblin to volunteer as a graphic designer.

Comfortable using Word Press? – We are looking for a computer savvy volunteer to help us with updating our website. Word Press experience required. An understanding of image file sizes for web is helpful.
When: Mutually agreeable schedule. Option to work remotely. Commitment of 1-2 hours per month required
Looking to keep your Raiser’s Edge skills polished? – If you have worked with Raiser’s Edge in the past and want to keep your skills fresh, come and help our membership department.

Public Programs Opportunities
Butterfly House Volunteer Training - Volunteers are needed for the duration of the Butterfly House Exhibit (June 29-August 24) to greet visitors and share information about butterflies and what is happening in the House that day. Volunteers are also needed to net butterflies in the Arboretum and release them in the House. No experience is necessary, but training is required.
Commitment: Volunteer schedule flexible 2-hour shifts with a minimum of two times per month requested
One Training Session Required: Wed., June 5 from 1:30 – 4:00 pm or Sat., June 8 from 10:00 am-12:30 pm

Exhibit Maintenance – Help us maintain our exhibits by re-stocking and general tidying up. Schedule is flexible. This is perfect for our volunteers that are available on the weekends.

Tyler Arboretum Ambassadors – Do you love Tyler Arboretum? Are you a people person? Then become a Tyler Arboretum Ambassador! We are looking for a couple of people with knowledge of Tyler Arboretum to represent and promote us at public events.

Arts and Crafts Crew – If you have craft, sewing, art or wood-working skills, we need you! Enjoy working with others while indulging your artistic or creative talents.

Education Department Opportunities
Summer Camp Assistants - Work with our education team helping campers with games, hikes, crafts and projects. Perfect for teens 15 years or older who love the outdoors and enjoy working with kids. A fun way to fulfill school or other service requirements. Interviews required.
When: Positions available in one-week increments from June 24 – August 16.

School Program Guides – Help bring science and nature to life for regional school children by leading field trip programs. Training provided.
When: Weekdays; mostly mornings
Historic Building Tour Guide – Give public tours of the Historic Lachford Hall and the Painter Library.

Horticulture and Grounds Opportunities
Invasive Plant Removal Corps – Join Dick Cloud’s crew to help remove invasive plants from our meadows and woodlands so that our wildflowers and native plants can survive.
When: Sundays, May 12, June 9, July 14, and August 9:30 am – 12 pm
Horticulture Group - Be part of our dedicated and fun-loving volunteers and assist with plant and grounds maintenance as well as event preparations.
When: Tuesday and Wednesdays, 8 am – 12 pm
American Chestnut Nursery Tenders – Assist with pollination and fruit harvest, as well as maintaining the tree nursery, part of the breeding program for the American Chestnut Foundation.
When: Starting in April on Thursdays, 8 am – 12 pm, some weekend potential
Vegetable Demonstration Garden Assistants – Help tend our 1/4 acre educational garden and assist with bed preparation, planting, mulching, weeding, thinning, watering, composting, harvesting and delivering produce to the Media Food Bank.
When: April- October; days and times to be determined
Handy Person – Assistance needed with various building maintenance projects and one-time special projects. Ability to operate power tools safely is a necessity.
