Tyler Arboretum’s collection of tree houses is growing!
Fort Tyler will be open to the public on May 25, just in time for Memorial Day weekend. A unique collaboration among Linn Architects in Media, students from The Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades and Toll Brothers, Fort Tyler is situated among a grove of trees with a catwalk bridge leading to a fort-like structure 13-feet high.
The Tulip Tree House is scheduled to be completed in June and was designed by Parris Bradley, who also designed the popular Troll Bridge, now a permanent feature at Tyler.
Fort Tyler and the Tulip Tree House join a permanent collection of eight other tree houses at Tyler. The 2008 Totally Terrific Tree House initiative invited designers, architects and builders of all sorts to create unique tree house structures for children to enjoy for years to come.
A special after-hours Members Preview of Fort Tyler will be held on Friday, May 24, from 6:30-8 p.m. Enjoy this benefit of membership by bringing the kids for a first look at Fort Tyler, a scavenger hunt and free dessert.
