Wildflower Walk

Ramble to Indian Rock to view various violets, bloodroot, and rue anemones.

Discover some amazing spring wildflowers with experts Richard Brenner and Dick Cloud every Wednesday.

* March 4: Discover winter aconite and snowdrops, then head into the Pinetum.
* March 11: Ramble to the Pond and Meadow Maze areas.
* March 18: Search for signs of spring along Rocky Run.
* March 25: Ramble through the woodlands to see hepatica and more.
* April 1 and 8: Look for bloodroot and other ephemerals in the woodlands.
* April 15: Travel to Pink Hill to see round-leaved violets, pussytoes, and perhaps some early moss pinks.
* April 22: Ramble to Indian Rock to view various violets, bloodroot, and rue anemones.
* April 29: Head to Pink Hill to see masses of moss pinks, barrens chickweed, bluets, and golden ragwort.
* May 6: Look for marsh violets, hepatica, one-flowered candleroot, and miterwort along lower Dismal Run and Rocky Run trails.
* May 13: Ramble through the Native Woodland Walk and along Rocky Run to see squirrel corn (Dutchman’s breeches) and more.
* May 20: Take this beginner’s ramble through the Native Woodland Walk and pond areas to look for wild geranium, cut-leaved toothwort, and coral bells.
* May 27: Stroll through the Old Arboretum and down Rocky Run to hunt for blue-eyed grass, clustered snakeroot, and cut-leaved toothwort.
