Outreach Programs


Tyler’s educators will present discovery programs in the classroom at your school – an ideal option for winter.

Programs are geared for classroom groups and feature extensive props and emphasize interactive hands-on participation. Discounts are available for more than one program during a visit.

Pre-School and Kindergarten

45 minutes, maximum 15 students per session

Bugs All Around

Learn about what makes a bug an insect and why they are important. Spiders are also investigated; learn why they are different from their buggy cousins.

Lenape Kids

Through artifacts and stories, students learn about Lenape customs and the role children played in the family.

Grades 1-5

1 hour, maximum 25 students per session

Bugs and Butterflies

Through models, specimens, and role playing, students learn about the amazing diversity and adaptations in the insect world. Life cycles, basic characteristics, and the roles insects play in the food web are explored. Students will also learn when an insect is not a bug.

Land of the Lenape

Students explore the culture and customs of the pre-colonial inhabitants of Pennsylvania. Through hands-on exploration of tools, animal furs, clothing, and musical instruments they will learn how the indigenous people utilized nature to meet their everyday needs.

White-tailed Deer

Deer, our largest mammal, have become common in both natural areas and neighborhoods. Examining fur, antlers, and bones students learn about the physical adaptations that enable deer to survive in our built environment.
Addresses standards: 4.6, 4.7 and 3.3

Nature's Adaptations

Students will compare the adaptive mechanisms of mammals, birds, and plants that allow them to survive in distinct ecological niches and how species are co-dependent on other living organisms in the food web.
