Junior Naturalist

Junior Naturalist programs are for elementary school age children. Each program explores as different aspect of the natural world and includes a lesson and an outdoor exploration.

Adults are welcome to accompany children; fee is for the child only, unless otherwise specified.

 

Registration Information

Pre-registration is required for all programs unless otherwise indicated. A full refund will be given if the Arboretum must cancel or reschedule a program due to inqadequate enrollment, instructor illness, or inclement weather. We will make every reasonable attempt to notify you if a program is cancelled.

A $3 administrative fee will be charged for each program cancellation that you initiate. A full refund, less the administrative fee, will be given with a minimum notice of two weeks. A 50% refund will be given with a minimum notice of one week. NO REFUNDS will be given with less than one week's notice.

Full payment must accompany each registration. Payment may be made via check or charge; VISA and MasterCard are welcome. Call 610-566-9134, ext. 212 or stop in to register.

Junior Naturalists: Arboretum Search for Winter Birds and Insects

Where are all the critters?

Not all birds fly south – there are many who stay right here. Join the search for our fine feathered friends and for the insects they eat to survive through the cold months.

How would you survive the cold months?

Discover the survival skills used by a variety of different animals to cope with wind, rain, and snow.

Junior Naturalists: Great Backyard Bird Count

Get ready to count those feathered friends!

Every year the Great Backyard Bird Count provides an opportunity for people of all ages and birding skills to contribute to the nationwide effort to collect important population data. This program will prepare you to participate in this citizen’s science project as you learn how to identify the birds that live here through the winter. Information will be provided on how to participate in the Bird Count, which takes place February 13 to 16, and enter your data on-line. This program is suitable for children ages 7 and older.
