Tyler offers a variety of seasonal workshops, lectures, guided bird walks, wildflower and other rambles, historic building tours, and off-site field trips.

 

Registration Information

Pre-registration is required for all programs unless otherwise indicated. A full refund will be given if the Arboretum must cancel or reschedule a program due to inadequate enrollment, instructor illness, or inclement weather. We will make every reasonable attempt to notify you if a program is cancelled.

A $3 administrative fee will be charged for each program cancellation that you initiate. A full refund, less the administrative fee, will be given with a minimum notice of two weeks. A 50% refund will be given with a minimum notice of one week. NO REFUNDS will be given with less than one week's notice.

Full payment must accompany each registration. Payment may be made via check or charge; VISA and MasterCard are welcome. To register: print and mail/fax the registration form (see link to the left), call 610-566-9134 ext. 215, or stop in.

Worm Composting

Vermicomposting is easy and fun!

Endeavoring to reduce your carbon footprint and help the planet? Vermicomposting, or composting with worms, is a fun and an easy way to dispose of kitchen waste, is faster than regular composting, and can be done indoors all year long.

Join instructor Martha Moore as she explores the wonderful world of vermicomposting. Class fee includes everything you need to get started immediately: a worm bin, bedding, and worms.

Selecting and Planting Bulbs

Plant now and enjoy a rainbow of spring color

Flowering bulbs are one of the great joys of gardening. Do a little work in the fall, and reap rewards in the spring.

Tyler Gardener Erika Kemp discusses purchasing bulbs, selecting the best planting sites, planting techniques, and post-bloom care. Learn what deer and squirrels avoid; move beyond traditional daffodils and tulips. Participants receive some bulbs to take home.

Fall Outdoor Containers

Celebrate cool days of fall with new plantings for your outdoor containers

Seasonal plants, colorful twigs, and autumn gourds or pumpkins can create fun and exciting displays.

Join Karen McDonald, owner of Petal Pushers, and create a custom container for your outdoor landscape. Bring a container of your choice (5-gallon maximum size; make sure there are drainage holes), sharp hand pruners, and gloves; we supply soil and plant materials.

Sculpture Garden Trip

Grounds For Sculpture

This 35-acre public sculpture park in Hamilton, New Jersey , combines the beauty of art and nature.

Featuring amazing sculptures nestled in a beautiful outdoor setting; it contains surprises big and small around every corner within the manicured gardens, wild woods and water features. The sculptures include abstract and interactive, and represent famous paintings among the great trees and roaming peacocks. We will have plenty of time to explore. Lunch is on your own at the Peacock Café.

There is lots of walking, so wear your most comfortable shoes.
