Invasive Plant Removal
Tyler Arboretum is forming a volunteer project / group to assist on the removal of invasive plant species here at Tyler. This group of volunteer would work in an on-going basis to remove and control invasive growth and spread in targeted areas along our trails and in our natural areas.

School Program Guides:
Help
school groups discover the wonders of plants, nature, and history. Assist
Educators with School Field Trips and Outreach programs by leading tours
and information sessions for students, preschool through 6th
grade. Training is provided, and topics vary seasonally. Field trips are scheduled on weekdays year round, with the
busiest seasons being spring and fall. Volunteer commitment is 1.5 hours,
twice a month minimum.
History
Tour Guides:
Tyler
offers tours for visitors of our historic Lachford Hall and Painter
Library every Sunday from 1 to 4 pm from April through October.
History Tour Guides play an important role educating visitors and
groups. Tour Guides will receive special training on the history of
the Minshall/Painter/Tyler family, the history and development of the
Arboretum property, and our historic buildings and inventory. New
Guides will be paired with veteran guides.
A background in history is not required. The volunteer
commitment is a minimum of one afternoon per month.
Special
Events Volunteer: Volunteer
will assist with event set-up tasks such as setting tables,
arranging food, decorating, etc. Volunteer for just one event or for
several; there are about 2 dozen events per year.
Shopping
Volunteer: Love to shop? Then you might just be the perfect
volunteer for this job. The Shopping Volunteer will shop for events as
needed on an on-going basis and purchase items for the event. The
volunteer will also be responsible for transporting items back to
Tyler. The Shopping Volunteer will be provided with a detailed list of
items needed, a method of payment for purchase of the requested items,
and a list of stores/store locations where items can be
purchased.
