Tyler Arboretum Staff Members

Meet our Senior Management Team

Cricket Brien
Executive Director
Tel: (610) 566-9134
Extension: 207

Cricket’s mudroom is full of hiking boots and muddy shoes. How better to sample some of Tyler’s great trails, than to get out and enjoy them – and all the rest that Tyler’s 650 acres of gardens and natural lands have to offer. New to Tyler in 2015, Cricket is inspired by Tyler’s special mix of outdoor stewardship, immersive landscape gardens, and excellent education programs that connect visitors to the history, culture, and the natural systems of this former family farm. She lives in Swarthmore with her husband and kids who all grew up with Tyler’s meadows, butterflies, hammocks, and treehouses, and are now pursuing careers in conservation, research biology, and economics. She thinks you’ll love Tyler too, so come on and join the family!

Mike Karkowski

He is responsible for the management of the Arboretum’s Horticulture Department, which maintains Tyler’s collections, plant records, natural areas, hiking trails, and historic buildings. Mike earned a Bachelor of Science from Purdue University in Landscape Horticulture and Design. His previous work includes Horticulturist and Director of Physical Plant and Grounds for The American College and Hardscape Consultant for a North Shore firm in the Chicagoland area. Mike enjoys building projects at home and church, building tree houses for his two children, and kayaking with family.
